Background

I started my career doing a 9-month internship at the Cairns Regional Council (Cairns, Australia) elaborating ArcGIS maps of endangered and threatened vegetation in the Wet Tropics. Back in Peru, I worked as a research assistant in the Amazon, and then I worked for 2 years as an Environmental Specialists implementing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) & ArcGIS maps for companies in the energy and real state sector. During this time, I also co-founded an NGO in Peru called Ficus Peru which main goal was to ameliorate the quality of life of the vulnerable population in Lima through urban forestry approaches. In late 2016 I received a scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung to study in Germany, and one year later I started working at the UN-FAO in Rome, Italy. Currently, I am the Co-lead of Nature-based Solution Thematic Group of IUCN CEM, and I also work as an International Consultant for WWF International – Climate & Energy Practice.

An interesting fact about you:

I had the privilege to live and work close to nature more than once in my career. For example, I did my first volunteer in a wildlife reserve in Durban, South Africa, then I volunteered for three months in Cape Tribulation (The Wet Tropics of Australia); & in India, I volunteered for three months in a Tiger Reserve. Later on, I worked in the Peruvian Amazon. For me it was awesome to finish the day and appreciate the sublime and beauty of these natural ecosystems. I guess these are the moments that motivate me to keep doing what I am doing.
