Areas of knowledge:

  • Environmental Communication
  • Journalism

Education:

B.Sc. Environmental Communication. Master in Sustainable Resource Management in the Technical University of Munich with specialization in wildlife and protected areas management; air, water and climate; and landscape management.

    Areas of expertise:

My area of expertise is environmental communication, but whenever I had to write about the impact of our actions on nature and the dismal circumstances of people who live in poverty because of an unsustainable development, I realized it was not enough to communicate what was happening. Therefore, I decided to gain a solid foundation in sustainability and resource management. I’m interested in learning more about nature-based solutions and ecosystem services; to look for strategies which can protect nature while ensuring a sustainable development.

    Background

I have developed environmental campaigns, worked in environmental education projects and worked for five years as an environmental journalist in local Ecuadorian newspapers such as “El Comercio” and in international platforms such as Mongabay. I’m working now as communication coordinator for Latin America in Nature and Culture International.

    Something interesting about you:

Ever since I was two months old, I have not stopped traveling. I have lived in eight countries and visited several others. Everywhere I went, I would get lost in the magic of forests, the fragility of the smallest animals and the immensity of the oceans. What started initially as a child’s curiosity then became my life’s passion. The more I saw, the more I felt the need to share with others all the wonders of nature and the challenges faced with preserving it. After seeing so much of our planet’s beauty and the incredible ways that humanity thrives on its resources, I had also witnessed the impact of our actions. Therefore, I decided to ignite in others the desire to preserve the beauty that still remains in our world.
